Personal Property Assesments
Gail Gramelspacher, Assessor of Dubois County, reminds all
taxpayers that it is time to file personal property
assessments.
The forms are now available from the County Assessor, Township Contact
Person or online at www.in.gov/dlgf
. Every person owning,
holding or controlling taxable personal property which is subject to
assessment and tax is required to file a form. The deadline
for
filing is May 15th.
Taxpayers are no longer required to file a Form
101.
All RVs, travel trailers etc that were once assessed on the Form 101
will now be taxed at the license branch beginning in 2010.
Taxpayers will still receive a tax bill in 2009 for all assessments
that were filed in 2008.
Persons owning farm personal property
are required to file forms 102 and 104.
Those owning business personal property
are required to file forms 103 and 104.
As of January 1, 2008 inventory is no longer assessed.
Failure to file a return by May 15th will result
in a $25
penalty. In addition, if the return is not filed within 30
days
after the return is due, a penalty of 20% of the taxes due will be
added.
Taxpayers that filed a Personal
Property
Investment Deduction for the second year in 2008 must file this year to
receive the third year of the deduction. This deduction form
is
due by May 15th and must be filed with the personal property assessment
forms. Only year three may be filed this year.
