County Sheriff

   
The County Sheriff is elected by popular vote to a four-year term.  The Sheriff serves as keeper of the peace by enforcing all Federal, State and County laws.  The Sheriff must take charge of the county jail and its prisoners.

    Duties of the sheriff also include:
   
1.    Officer of the courts to serve warrants, subpoenas and other court orders.

2.    Collect delinquent state income tax.

3.    Appoint deputies.

4.    May establish and operate a Pension Fund.
