Property Tax Deadline Changed

      Dubois County Treasurer, Bonnie Luebbehusen, would like to inform the taxpayers of Dubois County that there will be a delay in sending out the property tax statements this year and the 1^st installment due date could be sometime in July, depending on when the county gets the tax rates from the state. 

     Dubois County has had the necessary information to the state for establishing the tax rate since February 27; however the state statutes requiring the establishment of the target school tax rate seems to be one of the reasons for the delay by the State Department of Local Finance in certifying the tax rates to the county.  The new budget hearing dates determined by the state have also changed and because of the necessary publication guidelines the county must follow prior to sending out statements have been modified, we will simply have no choice but to delay tax collection. 

     Should the taxpayer want to make a payment on this years tax before the rates are established we will certainly accept payment for 07 pay 08 spring installment and either bill them the difference or if there is an overpayment we will apply balance to the fall.
